The UTA occurrence is located on a hill overlooking the Cluxewe River, approximately 5.5 kilometres southwest of Port McNeill.

The region is largely underlain by Upper Triassic volcanic rocks of the Vancouver Group, Karmutsen Formation. Several kilometres west, Tertiary volcanics are present. Relatively small bodies of Jurassic Island Intrusions have intruded these rocks.

Locally, disseminations and amygdules of chalcopyrite and pyrite are present in Karmutsen andesites.

In 1968, Galleron Explorations completed a program of prospecting and geochemical sampling on the UTA, ATU and Bon claims. An anomalous area on the soil grid (5W between 21S and 26S) had assays up to 0.029 per cent copper (Assessment Report 1815). The anomalous area is 800 metres southwest to the MINFILE plot.
